to notice that Garmin now displays Red and Yellow lines on the roads indication slow and stopped traffic? Like Google and Wand Waze does?

Garmin has been doing this for years. But, a traffic receiver is needed and it has to be receiving traffic information to display the colors.

Since my area is New York City, traffic information is always available.

I've had all that all along.

I've had all that all along. I just noticed it today. Not very observant, I guess.

Newer models will also use Garmin Drive, on your cell phone. It pairs to the phone via Bluetooth. It provides good coverage.
I was concerned about data usage, but found it only used about 1 MB per hour.

DC Area

In the DC area traffic data is persistent, both with a receiver and with SmartLink. Here, SmartLink is so superior to the receiver that I don't even bother with the receiver.
