I didn't get a manual, however, I don't believe that this unit has ever been used. Not sure why it isn't there.

I still don't know what "outlines" are
I have tried outlines on and off and don't see any difference in the map. Just what are outlines and why would I want/not want them?

Wish I could recall where I read it, but I recall that you can upload your own customized maps to the unit, and if you turn on outlines, it shows how your maps compare to the built in ones.

Per this, "Map Outlines allows you to view supplemental maps, if you've loaded any onto the nuvi."
