Perhaps you can post on a new book you're reading, a new hobby you're taking up or about random finds as you finally get around to cleaning out the..., or your most recent adventure?

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

Please keep comments polite.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

keepin it alive

keepin it alive

Well I haven' been here for a few days

We are ok. Been busy.
Our house was struck by lightning. It didn't catch on fire and it didn't open a hole in the roof but it did a lot of damage.
All these things below have to be replaced or fixed.
AC unit parts needing replaced
70" TV completely gone 13 years old so wanted a new one
Thermostat gone
Router 2 year old and over $300 gone
Smoke detector gone
One security camera gone
Broadband service antenna burned and replaced by company
DVD player gone
Roku gone
Garage door opener board gone and maybe the wall switch gone
USB plug in wall (2) gone
Gate Opener WIFI unit board being replaced soon (I hope)Blew the cover off the unit across our pantry
OTA Antenna wiring in attic, blew the wire into and burned the connector and ended up about 15 feet from antenna
Needless to say I have been busy ordering stuff. 2 of the boards have the chip that was not available and are a little backed at the companies but it looks like we will get our Garage opener board next week.
But we are safe and doing good so couldn't ask for anything more.
Have a great week.

EDIT: O forgot to mention our upstairs air-conditioning went out two days after the lightening strike so we had no air (except ceiling fans) till yesterday evening.

Lighting

Mary , sorry to hear about all your damage from lighting. I worry about that every time we have a lighting storm. Glad no one was hurt.

Isn't if funny?

Isn't if funny how quickly things can change in our lives? And of course I don't mean funny as in ha, ha. May I assume that your homeowners' insurance is paying for a lot of this?

It seemed that everything that was damaged was hooked to the internet.

Our breaker boxes both have a full house surge protector and that might be what saved all our appliances.

My computer and equipment were all plugged into surge protection strips. I unplugged them but only after the majoy hit.

The plug where the broadband antenna wire from the top of our house had a burse of fire come out of it.

Phil

I have always been one that takes the largest deductible and lowest premium but make sure all the large stuff is covered along with full replacement cost if I need it. Over the last 57 years we have only filed once and that was for a roof.
With the lower premiums and higher deductibles I have saved more than enough to pay for this over the 57 years.

With the 2% deductible it might come close to it but not enough to use the insurance and have higher premiums.

There is a bright spot to this (I know I am sort of strange) smile. We were in rut, just set and watch TV, go to Walmart pickup and doctors. This has given us something to do. Looking for replacement parts and items on our phones was hard until we had the internet and router fixed but now it is easier on the PC and I love to shop online more so than going to the stores.
