funny thing happened at a get together this weekend

My wife's aunt had a surprise b-day party and her cousin truly pulled it off. It's difficult and "nice" when people are really surprised.

Anyway, wife's uncle asks me if I want their gas grill.

I laugh as I thought it was a joke they just got it a few months ago. I've been without 5 years and using a Weber kettle/charcoal, and was going to get one but the pandemic blah blah blah

Well he was serious because he wanted the you know Weber level that's likely $1200 or so but also pandemic so he got this one for $350 at Lowe's. He doesn't like it and wants to get rid of it and get the one he wants. For me it's got all that I would want, the btu's and even a 10,000 btu side burner, I just never got around to pulling the trigger.

So this weekend will be the first time I use that Curt hitch basket I got before the summer, all the dimensions and weight seem ok. Also he said bring your old one we'll junk it as they have a yearly to the dump, whereas we would have to pay our township.

It's the little things in life....you can't choose your relatives so isn't it great when they look out for you...really...

Nice

we

did end up bringing it back and it really is the small things in life. I'm thinking to myself a gas grill is like the stove, only outside! No more ritual of starting the charcoal, waiting for it to get hot, and hate to admit, a different result of doneness each time lol

In junking the old one, I saw it had a label that it was made in 1998. I got it in 2002 so NOS from the HD?

Funny too, the old ignition was piezo, the new one electronic.

Today I saw a gas grill at the curb and it said Kenmore on it. Probably has a lot of memories for the person who's tossing it, get togethers, etc.

The crazy thing too? Seems one can buy all new insides for this particular Char Broil for $25-$33 on amazon, it really should last forever other than if the box itself rusted away....

Unexpected...

Quite some time ago we went on a long vacation. We had been looking at carpet (our son was selling carpet at the time) and were planning on having it done when we got home but... When we got home we found that my son and his wife had moved all the furniture, had the carpet installed, and put everything back. As if that wasn't enough of a surprise we also found a new hot tub installed on the patio. It seems some friends had bought a huge super duper hot tub for their house and, knowing I have a really bad back, had purchased this one for us and had it installed at my house.

We've taken long vacations since but I guess we used up all of our surprises.
