Getting too old
Getting too old to work in the yard. Have 5 bushes we planted 18 years ago by our entry and garage. They are not the small plants we thought. They are huge. We cut them back and they keep growing, at times you can't walk down the sidewalk outside our front door if you let them go at all.
So we decided to take them out. A lot more work than we thought.
We have a slip chain that we attached to the tractor and pull bushes out. These will not come out that way. I am having to dig dirt around the root system and saw (with a hand saw) the large roots so the bush can be pulled out. It takes about a day to do each one. We have only removed one. I am working on the second one getting it ready.
Now, most everyone that knows me knows I do not like cold weather. Well, while working on them the weather was 99 yesterday and I was wishing for cold weather.
Hopefully we will have these bushes up by the end of summer.
Needless to say we are not going to replace with other bushes.
The one we have completed is a stepping stone with a strawberry pot surrounded by lava rock. Should be easier to take care of than what was there. Haven't planted the strawberry pot yet but plan to use mint and vines in it.

RV is second shop for same problem with no solution. Keeping us of the road after being grounded for two years, first health, second pandemic.
We are having lack of road trip anxiety attacks.

Breakfast
In October we will have lived here for 32 years. A few days ago the doorbell chimed and I found a neighbor from across the street at the door. She said, "Breakfast is Saturday" and handed me a sheet of paper. It said where to meet and told me to bring a pound of bacon. I love it when this happens.
I live on a cul-de-sac and once a year we have a block breakfast. Most of the neighbors gather at one persons house and we all have breakfast outside. One year we had an additional meeting for an Ice Cream Social.
It's awesome to have neighbors like this. The organizer always hands out a list with everybody's address, names, and phone number so we have an emergency list. If more people lived in a neighborhood like this one I think things in general would be much nicer.
Oh, the woman who organizes the block breakfast also rings the bell around Christmas time and is there with a loaf of bread that is still hot out of the oven. Like I said, good folks on this street.

Join the club, have been trying to get my generator fixed since April.
