6/8: Another Windows 10 update available

Another Win 10 update just became available:

June 8, 2021—KB5003637 (OS Builds 19041.1052, 19042.1052, and 19043.1052)

It installed smoothly and didn't create any noticeable problems, so I guess I won.

Look for settings that you changed from the default

Look for anything that you changed from the default settings, such as screen saver settings or "Pause Updates".

Doesn't happen every with every update, but sometimes things get reset to the default settings.

With the preview, or Beta, update last week (not yesterday), I now have a MS News & Weather icon on my taskbar and I haven't figured out how to get rid of it. It's a waste of CPU time to me. I will probably have to go into "msconfig" to kill it. Online help is not up to date on this one yet.

To get rid of the added info in the Taskbar

1. Right click the Taskbar

2. Select News and Interests

3. Select Turn off (or what you may prefer)

Explore, some things might be useful

Personally I don't find the default weather icon and temperature an issue. But I often work in a room with shades drawn so it is a quick check on outside conditions.

You might want to explore some of the other options. For instance if you leave the News and Interests option ON and also check the setting to "Open on hover" you get a customizable pop-up. At the top right of the pop-up is a "Manage options" (click the wording, not the three dots) choice where you can chose your favorite sports teams, stocks, specific news interests, etc.

I've been being annoyed by this on two computers so far, and was about to start searches to learn how to get rid of it. You helped me today.
