Timezone Map updates again. So both my units are registered for North America and have corresponding Maps. You would think after all those Express updates it would see that these updates are totally useless to me. I can't even use my units in Volgograd, Australia, New Zealand Fiji and Palestinian Territories unless i change the Maps. So unless i take this update it will always show "software update available"
Next week it will show 2 updates available.
Pretty soon i'll have 25 timezone updates..lol

I'm not sure I understand your point. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I would find it illogical to have time zone information as part of Garmin Express, nor is it indicated to be included by any of the release notes of Express (see https://forums.garmin.com/apps-software/mac-windows-software...). The logical thing to me is to incorporate time zone details and changes into any given map update as a separate file. Your device, which you say is registered for North America will get the time zone changes by the latest map update for North America, assuming you are entitled to LM's.
Yes, after doing the update to GE, you may get a notification that your devices have a pending time zone update, all three of my devices show that, but GE is simply the "vehicle" handling the delivey of the time zone info to the device.
yes "vehicle" to the wrong device.
Why on earth would i want to update time zones that don't have a thing to do with me. I'm surprised it doesn't want me to install the Russian Language. Come on really? Once a month GE gets updated with who knows what and both my units are registered on GE and it sees i have NA maps on it and still it offers files that have no purpose and that won't go away unless i take the update. Here's people complaining about having no space for their maps and having to put add an sdcard. Lets remember that these units are useless over in europe with these maps so why fill them up with junk. Nothing Logical about that!

You've totally missed my point. The time zone map (TMZ) is less than 1 MB in size and based on a backup I have, it is named gmaptz.img. Specifically version 23.0 is 577 KB.
Now, the TZ Map for version 23.0, as compared to version 22.0 includes the following items, and "yes" a lot is changed that has no bearing on North America or the USA. That is for version 23.0 but I can show you change logs that do affect the USA. These devices are sold (and used) in many places and a singular file, and again less than 1 MB in size is an efficient way of doing things.
- Improved time zone maps for Serbia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, Switzerlan, Liechtenstein, Austria, France, Belgium, Germany, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan
- Updated daylight saving time (DST) transitions for Fiji
- Improved coastline drawings for Montenegro, Germany and Singapore
- Removed DST information from Brazil
- Separated regions of Turkey by the Bosphorus
- Added DST information for Norfolk Island

For "speed2", I went ahead and updated the time zone map that was available. I did this in spite of the release notes indicating it only affected areas where I'm not likely to ever travel or use my Garmin.
Prior to the update the file GMAPTZ.IMG was shown as being from 1/27/2021 with a file size of 572 KB.
After the update, which took 15 seconds, the file (now 05/01/2021) is shown as 577 KB, an increase of 5 KB.
The time zone map is of course optional. You can chose to wait for the release notes and then update should it include information relative to your specific maps.
So, you stated earlier, and "it" refers to GE "...it sees I have NA maps on it and still it offers files that have no purpose and that won't go away unless i take the update. Here's people complaining about having no space for their maps and having to put add an sdcard. Lets remember that these units are useless over in europe with these maps so why fill them up with junk. Nothing Logical about that!"
Hopefully you can see that a time zone map, applicable to where you travel or not, is a very minor culprit in people having to put maps on an SD card.
