TMC FM Traffic/Canada

Hi everyone!

I got just a month ago the 350 and it's great! Suits my need very well. However those who have come to Montreal, QC, will have to agree with me that traffic is a NIGHTMARE especially in summer with all the damn constructions! sad

Now I happen to see that as of July 1st, Montreal is covered by realtimetraffic! (http://www.realtimetraffic.net/TTN-HD.pdf) and you can see in the FAQ that, indeed, Canada (at least a part of it) is covered!

Do any of you guys knows if Garmin will get that available anytime soon! Because their subscription site doesn't include yet, Canada... sad

I just sent them an email to see what's their answer!

On a second note, can anyone tell me what is the difference between the GTM 10 and GTM 12 aside it's format and big price difference? Is there one better than the other?

Thanks a bunch!

Max

Differences between the 10 and 12

The 10 requires permanent installation, and Garmin "strongly encourages" that it be done by a professional. It attaches directly to your car's radio and antenna, is hidden but still requires connection to your unit's USB port. The 12 is portable. Its antenna attaches to your car's windshield with two suction cups, and the unit then plugs in to the USB port to provide service.

Garmin 765T...Is it about the destination, or is it about the journey?

Thanks jkaplan! Now just

Thanks jkaplan!

Now just wondering about the traffic availability! smile

Got the answer from Garmin

Oh well! smile

Here is for those who might be interested with the option the answer I got from Garmin:

Dear ...,
Thank you for contacting Garmin International, we appreciate your business. Right now we don't have a firm date to give you as we are still in the testing and QA process. When the system has met standards an announcement will be made at that time. I apologize that's all we can offer today.

Anybody? :)

Hey everyone!

Anybody manage to get more info than me regarding the traffic availability for Canada?

If you go there https://shop.garmin.com/fmtraffic/process.asp and click on USA you can see several cities around Canada but they don't seem to be "activated".

It's soon but when? sad

Unofficially

Well, I was at a conference in Montreal this past weekend (TDIFest for anyone who cares) and one of the guys there has an FM receiver and said it was not working for him. This is anecdotal evidence only though!
