How can i transfer a MB Map Pilot SD card?

Hi. I have an SD card from one Mercedes that I went to put into another Mercedes and the message that showed was that it was used in another vehicle. I changed VIN# in the "GarminDevice.xml" file but, I get the same message.
I called Mercedes and asked how and they told me "once an SD Card is put into a car, it is permanently married to that car." But, I'd Think... there has Got to be Something that can be changed, altered or removed to get it to work in another car. Please help

Mercedes is likely correct. Otherwise you could simply duplicate that card and use it in multiple vehicles without paying for the privelege. It is much the same with the Garmin GPS's that have lifetime maps. I can't take the card from my 265WT (which has lifetime maps) and put it into my wife's 265WT. It just won't work as the card is encoded to a unique serial number.
