So I see (for the 2nd time) prices dropping on the Drive Series. When I went to CES last year, they had nothing new for auto navigators and they said probably around spring there would be a refresh of units. Well spring came and went and nothing new so wondering (even though no CES this year), if they are finally going to replace this series soon.
So like before, they dropped the price and then brought it back up again (weird). I would think being two years into this line, they would keep the price low and refresh it with a new line but guessing auto sales are much lower than personal devices like the watches and handheld devices so who knows (but them). Without going to CES this year, I won't be able to ask the folks I know directly this go around.
In your opinion, where are the Drive Series prices fairly low at this moment?
IMO, consistently good prices can be had at the Factory Outlet Store. There is a sale going on at the moment and free shipping for another day. And yes, perhaps on any given item at the Outlet Store you might be able to beat the price with the searching.
TomTom is also having a sale. Seems to coincide with normal seasonal pricing. I hope they do release new versions of the DriveSmart series. I'm itching for an upgrade.
They always seem to drop them $80 across the board and now for the second time, they are back up to their original price. This is the "virtual" CES week. We'll see if it gets refreshed. However, I won't put it past Garmin if they don't They haven't been pushing auto navigators as hard as they used to and this model has been out for two years now.
