My guess is that 7.2.1 had a serious error that required immediate fixing. I doubt that 7.2.2 was released because they forgot to include old fixes or new enhancements, know what I mean?

Thanks for the

notice. Updating now. smile

Edit to add: And it's really F-ing stupid that Garmin defaults to having the "always keep running in background" option enabled when one updates the program. Always have to go in and uncheck that option after updating. Every.Single.Time. sad

Really not a big deal IMO

At least to me the fact that GE runs in the background isn't a big deal. The "overhead" according to Task Manger is about 75 MB. I would be more concerned about the remnants of map updates left behind. A few weeks back someone reported cleaning out 120 GB (yep GB) of old maps in hidden folders.

True. Very are both very sloppy on Garmin's part.

Same here

I object to the presumptuous of Garmin that their software is so important that I should want it to always be running.

But it's a cumulative thing. A relativity little used program keeps itself running in the background. Install a number of programs all who keep themselves running in the background and things begin to add up in both processing usage and RAM usage. Other programs have no issue remembering past install configurations and retaining it's settings. Just sad that Garmin doesn't do the same.

And yes after every single Garmin Express update or map update I have to go in and deleted the downloaded content and old unused maps to free up space on my smallish SSH drive. Another irritating thing that Garmin doesn't give the option within the program to clean up after itself when updating.

Years ago post about removing files and cleaning up downloaded Garmin map update content at the following link (and others have posted elsewhere) when using Windows.
