You're a Godsend mcginkleschmidt

For those of us who like to hang on to the older Garmin's (I still have my 885T), thanks for providing the larger JCV file. As long as it continues to work and I can keep updating it, I'll continue using it when I travel, which hasn't been much lately, but looking for changes to come next year. Bravo!!!

Thank you mcginkleschmidt!

Thank you for hosting this file. Downloaded, applied and working great. smile

Thanks for all you do ...

We appreciate your work.

large File

Where do you save the file to, your gps unit or the poi files?

My Nuvi 755T

In my Nuvi 755T, the file is inside the JCV folder which is inside the Garmin folder.

thanks

Ill try that. I don't know if I have a JCV file, but if not, Ill create one.

Is Your GPS Compatible with The Large JCV File?

Before you go too far you might want to read this very informative thread by CraigW: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/45292

didnt work

Yes, I tried creating a JCV folder in my Garmin Folder, then installed the JCV file into the JCV folder.....I still have a split screen. I have a Nuvi 2797 LM gps. Back to the drawing board.

I tried to install in in my Garmin 2797, connected to my computer..opened the Garmin folder the opened my JCV folder, tried to install it there but got a message the it failed because the file was too large....826 mb. Guess Ill stay with a split screen jct view. Thanks for your assistance.

Memory card (4 or 8Gb)

You need one...and that is where you need to place the large JCV file.

It goes in x:|Garmin|JCV
(x is the drive letter that shows up in File Explorer of the new card)

And you need to delete or rename the .jcv file in the Garmin's
x:|.System|JCV folder

I just rename it to D3191340A.jcv.disabled in case there is a problem with the large JCV.

large File

Thank you so much.

Here is the situation... I need 579 mb, more to install the large JCV file. So I either need to find 579mb to delete or, If possible, use the external card that I have installed......which is the map of Europe. If I take the EUROPE card out and install a fresh blank micro card in the slot, can I then install the large JCV file in a new Garmin Folder in the external card? Would that work. And If not, what are some typically large files on the Garmin internal card that I could delete? maybe it's not worth all the trouble...lol.

Yes, using a new blank sd card will work. Until the time you need the Europe mar and put that card back in.

ou can remove all the Text files, except your languages. Remove the language files, remove the Help Files to make room. There is a FAQ about what files you can remove. A search for Remove Files for more info.

Large file

So...on the new external micro sd card, just create a GARMIN folder and in the GARMIN folder , create a JCV FOLDER (NOT .Jcv), and add the new jcv large file? THEN, should I go back to the internal card, and delete or change the name of the OLD JCV file?

Thanks.

Yes! That works, Better to

Yes! That works, Better to rename the old, or move it to your hard drive. Each time you update to new maps, and new internal JCV file will be created. So you will have to go through the process each time you upgrade.

With your nuvi 2797, most owners prefer the standard split-screen jcv file. But then, maybe you're one that does go for the Large full-screen.

large File

Bingo!! It works. Actually, I go back and forth. As long as I have plenty of space, Ill probably stick with the large file.....later, Ill probably switch back. My eyes arent as sharp as they were when I was young, so to me..everything bigger is better. thats why I got a 7" screen.
