safe to delete old Express installers?

I was just cleaning up old map files in the C:/ProgramData/garmin/coreservice/downloads folder, and noticed that I have a Garmin Express installer .exe file for every version of GE I've ever installed. Takes up more than a Gb of space. I assume it's safe to delete all those installers?

Between these installers, and the well-known map files that pile up in the CoreService folder, Garmin sure seems to be sloppy about cleaning up after itself.

Really?

First I've heard of that happening and I haven't got any.

I actually stopped one

I actually stopped one folder short of the full path in the original post. The full path is:

C:/ProgramData/Garmin/CoreService/Downloads/Application/

Then a different folder for each version of GE. I can't imagine there's any harm in deleting them since they appear to be just the downloaded installer exe files. Think I'll just move them to a different location for a while to make sure.

I had four

Thanks. I found four folders, each about 115MB. I deleted the oldest three although like you, I expect I could delete all of them. Garmin must have auto-deleted the earlier versions or maybe older versions didn't create the folders.

Freeing up space after device update has been discussed before

See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/50582

You might be able to save GB’s.

I have the latest and greatest level of Win 10 and Garmin Express and I don't have any path even close to the one you show.

My express.exe is in C:/program files (x86)/garmin/express

and there are no old levels of express that I could find.

Keep clicking after applications.

Follow the OP'S path that was posted. C:/ProgramData/Garmin/CoreService/Downloads/Application/ .Once you click on application, then continue to click on the folders and the last one you click on will show the version of Express. I had a bunch of them.

My application folder was 2.7 GB, but not anymore

My "application" folder is (now was) 29 subfolders totaling 2.7 GB! Each of those folders take a name like Application_Application.express-windows.x.x.x.x where "x" ranges from 6.7.2.0 to 7.1.4.0. The dates span 8/15/2018 to 9/22/2020, 8/15/2018 being about when I acquired this PC.

I have manually removed all but the last two entries which total 224 MB, a saving on space of about 2.5 GB.

There doesn't seem to be any issues. I have contacted Garmin via email suggesting they look into this matter.

Thanks to "rocket_scientist" for bringing this to our attention.
