Memorial Day celebrations across the U.S. will look a bit different this year, with most picnics, parades, and services canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak. That's why CBS News "On the Road" correspondent Steve Hartman is teaming up with retired Air Force bugler Jari Villanueva to keep the spirit of the holiday alive.
Hartman and Villanueva are asking veterans, musicians, teachers, and students of all abilities and ages to sound Taps on their front lawns, porches, and driveways at 3 p.m. local time this Monday, May 25th.
Already had our parade today.
Police cars, fire trucks, EMS trucks, flags mounted, going up and down the town's residental streets.
Everybody out waving.
Lawn chairs out in driveway.
If you folks have the time before 3PM, or later even earlier, you will appreciate what sacrifices that were made for this country. True, freedom never has been free..
Being a Vietnam Veteran myself, it brings tears to my eyes every time I watch the video.
You can read my earlier post on the topic.
