Upgrade went just fine but am disappointed with the "new" which don't appear much different than the old.
Still have many streets that don't show on the "road ahead" bar at the top of the screen. It skips many major roads and will show some minor road off in the distance.
And.. there has been no new school zones added for several upgrades. They started with a few a couple of years ago.. then stopped.

At work I always have the GPS on, most of the time without a route programmed in.

Two things I can think of that may affect the up ahead street names (when not using a programmed route).

Maybe the amount of zoom you're using? Try zooming in a little more.

The other is I've noticed when driving on a road where a intersecting street is only on the left, the street name will not appear, if the intersecting street actually crosses the road I am on, or only appears on the right side, the name will appear (driving in the USA) in the up ahead bar.

With a route programmed in most of the time what will show on the up ahead bar is the next turn or "Driving on such and such street"

.

.

Maybe part of Garmin overall "left turn avoidance" nannyism?

Thanks

Thanks for the info, we didn't even have to get to page three this time.

New Maps

Thanks for the alert !

I'll be D/L ASAP.

Worked on Second Attempt

I updated to the latest Express 6.20.0.0 before the map update.

Express updated the Time Zone Map and Traffic Provider files, then got an error during the map update "There was an error installing the update"

I re-attempted the map update, and this time it was successful.

Learned that was an option

I re-attempted the map update, and this time it was successful.

As I reported above, I got that error the first time I installed this map on my first 3597. However the status indicated success. I had no idea there was an option to re-install available in Garmin Express until I learned about it here. It hides under a link I usually click just because I want to adjust whether the update goes to device only or to device and computer. But in this case, the top of that page had a button for re-install. I clicked it, and less than 25 minutes later was told I had a successful installation, with no red box announcing an error.

I my case, I did not detect any abnormal behavior in the week I operated the 3597 after the "error" warning, but I feel much more comfortable now.

Another reason I am glad I visit this site.

No Problems

Downloaded last week and used the new map version for a weekend getaway with no problems.

Great update, testing

760s Updated

Updated both of my old 760s. No issues so far. Will be taking a 4 week trip soon so need to load up audio books on them for the trip. Love being able to run them on the GPS and through the car stereo. Directions will pause the books and then they pick up without a hitch. These are the reasons I never updated to a newer unit.

Issues with XT

I just bought a zumo xt and am getting an error updating the maps. Running Garmin Express on a windows 7 machine. XT has 18gb free. The install starts with great download speeds, but quickly drops off. At 40%, it's down to 12mbps and continues to fall as it progresses, finally erroring out. How much memory is needed on the zumo? I'm installing to the unit only, not the computer as I do not use base camp.

Well ...

Sounds like your ISP may be throttling the download, do you have any restrictions? Are you trying over wi-fi or is your PC directly connected to your router?

sussamb, it's over wifi. Laptop does not have an ethernet port. I saw someone earlier post that they were able to do at slow speeds. I may see if I can schedule overnight.

OK

No travel

Updated maps aren't helping me. We had a month-long camping trip planned to a number of US National Parks but they are all closed so that's not happening. Poop.
