Thanks for the heads up, I just checked my 2720 and it had v 7.10. Not sure why because I haven't recently downloaded and updates except the new city navigator nt 2008. Maybe it updated the software as well.

Thank you for the info but Garmin now has the new version 2008NT out on cd it cost $69.99 go to the garmin site and put in your units serial number

V7.10 is the Streetpilot 2720 basic software. I also have City Navigator North America NT V8 (this is the software being replaced by the new 2008NT).

At least this is my understanding of it.

You're on the right track Ed

The V7.10 is the firmware that makes all the hardware components talk to one another; the CityNav NTV8 & 2008NT is the map and the built-in POI database.
