JCV files

I have a Garmin nuvi 2370 with 2013.10 map version and would like to know what specific JCV file(s) should be used. I currently have a memory card with a folder name [.system] listed as a subdirectory under GARMIN and it has two files (D3192050A.JCV - size: 156,995 & D3373040A.JCV - size: 171,586) and I do get junction views.
My other Garmin is a Drive Assist 51 which I backed up to the CPU. Nowhere can I find the system file in the backed up files nor directly accessing the unit. All functions for viewing hidden & system files as well as displaying file extension are set as they should be. Where is the system file that normally holds the JCV file? This unit currently has Software version 6.00, GPS Firmware version 9.00.00, and North American map version of 2020.10. Is there a new JCV file for this map version? Will D3060280A work? and, Can I create a folder on my memory card named GARMIN, with a subdirectory of [.system] and put the JCV file within it and will it work?
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Goodness, you ask as many questions as I do.

Let's see if I can help without skipping any.

Your nuvi 2370 with an old 2013.1 map should have just one JCV file so I will guess that one of yours in the nuvi is not being used and just taking up space. I don't know from the filenames which JCV goes with the 2013.1 map, but as we wait for someone to answer this, you could look at the filedates of the two JCV files and compare it to the gmapprom.img map file date. I expect the jcv with a similar filedate to the img file is the one being used. You could safely test this by renaming the jcv file you think does not apply to something like Dxxxxxx.jcv.disabled and see if the nuvi still works and displays Junction Views. If so, you could delete the disabled jcv file or better yet, move it to your computer for safekeeping if it turns out to be needed. Removing an unneeded JCV file frees more space on the device for future map updates, voices, vehicles, etc.

Your DriveAssist issue: If you've set all the PC folder settings as you say you have, then the issue is likely that your DriveAssist is still in MTP mode and needs to be switched to MS mode. If you're already in MS mode with the DriveAssist, then recheck your folder settings as a common issue is forgetting to uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)". MTP FAQ:

If your DriveAssist has map 2020.10, it should also have the appropriate JCV file for that map. Do you see or not see Junction Views in the DriveAssist when using the device? Each map version has a JCV file that will only work for that that map version so you cannot take a JCV file from a different map version and move it to the device. Also, even with two Garmin devices with the 2020.10 map, they may have different JCV files meaning they're not interchangeable.

A bit more on JCVs overall:

Oh, hold on here...!

Here be dragons...

As I thought about this, the 157k and 172k sizes of your two JCV files in the 2370 seemed quite small as I would expect the file to be over 400k in size.

In looking at your nuvi 2370, I see that its map is a transatlantic map so it's possible that it should have two jcv files, one for North America and one for Europe, but with their smaller filesize, they may offer fewer junction views or possibly not offer photorealistic JVs or something else. I'd be very hesitant to tinker with files in a transatlantic GPS device. The 2370:

Answers you get here or elsewhere regarding JCV files from folks with a North America device or a European device may not apply to your 2370 since yours is a pond-jumper.

KB or MB?

@CraigW … I suspect you meant you expected the JCV file size to be over 400 MB, not k (or maybe you meant 400k KB?) Anyway, I left your previous post untouched so you should still be able to edit it if you want to.
