the polar vortex was first recorded in the us in 1853 so its not something new, news today is dramatized because of the web ,years ago you had to read a newspaper and if some thing didn't involve the area you lived in it didn't get printed ! the problem today is reporters trying to outdo each other with facts that aren't facts anymore the polar vortex isn't any worse now then it was years ago ! if 1 person is hurt its a bad thing I just wish they would tell the truth and calm down on the facts!

3 days of thawing out.
After two weeks of snow and polar vortex cold, we have now had 3 consecutive days of temp's in the low 40s with significant thawing. About half of the accumulated snow in my yard is now melted and I am starting to see a bare patch here and there where the wind had blown away some of its depth.
