Garmin 2699lmt traffic cable

A message started popping up on my 2699Lmt that the cable was not right for traffic, does the traffic antennae’s in the cable go bad? Never had this happen before Thanjs for your feedback

Not a good sign.

This is not a good sign, as this problem has been reported before on the 26x9 devices. Read through these two threads:

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/47416
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/48490

If I were you, I would call Garmin Support, even though your device is out of warranty and see if you can get them to replace it. They will probably have you go through a bunch of diagnostics, and maybe they will come up with something that corrects the problem, but based on the above two discussions, I think it is doubtful.

Note: Call Garmin support rather than e-mail. You will get better results.

One of the two links alandb provided (http://www.poi-factory.com/node/48490) is a thread I started concerning the same problem with my 2689.

I tried a new cable but still got the message, so I returned the new cable (gotta love the ease of returning Amazon items) The problem is almost always the port on the GPS not the cable,

I contacted Garmin via "Live Chat". At first I was offered a discount on buying a new GPS (DriveSmart 51, since the Nuvi's are no longer made), and I had to give them my 2689. Out of warranty but still new IMO.

I told them that was not satisfactory since my GPS was less than 2 and a half years old and I had the 6 inch version of the 2689 and did not want to go down in size.

Anyway I went back and forth with the chat rep, in the end I decided to keep my 2689 and suggested the rep forward the entire conversation to their supervisor.

A few days later I got a call from Garmin. They decided to do a one time favor for a long time customer, (I've bought about 10 Garmin models over the years) and gave me a DriveSmart 61 LMT-S. All it cost me was the shipping to send my 2689 back.

Garmin came through for me in the end, very happy with the new 61.
