Newbie - question about the Garmin Language Guide

Great website! Just bought my first GPS, the Nuvi 660. I'm thinking about getting the Language Guide, since I have some friends coming to visit from Germany later this year, and when we get together, it helps to have a handy translator. smile I see that it comes on SD card. Does anyone know if you copy the files off the SD and onto the unit? I plan to use the SD slot for music and POIs, so I don't want to have to leave the language SD in all the time. TIA!

I don't know for sure 100%,

I don't know for sure 100%, but I would say, Yes, you would have to use the card to use the translator.

SD card

It is my understanding that you have the option of downloading from an SD card to the 660 or simply keeping the data on the card.

I have the Language Guide

I have the Language Guide and the NA Travel Guide. When you insert them into the unit it asks if you want to transfer them to the unit. I selected "yes" and placed the original SD cards in a secure place.

The files are relatively small, ~60MB, so there shouldn't be a space issue. This way you can still use the slot for music, books, etc.
