How to move favorites from Garmin C550 to Garmin Drive 50

So I talked to Garmin and they told me that they do not support my C550 because it is outdated. They replaced it with Garmin Drive 50 USA+CAN LMT for free. I only paid shipping $8.00. Now I have the 2019.10 map updates. They told me to properly dispose my old GPS however it still works so I will keep it as a backup. I would like to know how to move places that I have saved in "Favorites" and "Recently Found" and "Extras" on Garmin C550 to my new GPS Garmin Drive 50? I have looked at some of the threads however I have been unsuccessful.

Fairly simple ..

I'm not familiar with the C550 but are you able to access it via a PC? If so does it have a folder named GPX? In that folder is there a file named current.gpx?

If so copy that file to the GPX folder in your Drive but you MUST rename it to something other than current.gpx

Now reboot your Drive and your favourites should be there. Once they are ensure you go back and delete the file you copied and renamed from your C550.

Recently found cannot be copied across AFAIK. What 'extras' are you talking about? If POI files then again simply copy them from one POI folder to the other, in this case no need to rename them.

Incidentally that's great customer service from Garmin, replacing an old model like that just for the shipping cost!

Help needed to get sounds

Hi so I had to use poi loader to get my pois in my new Drive 50 but I only get alerts. Can someone tell me how to get my gps to say sounds instead of alerts like " Walmart ahead"

You actually need to load

You actually need to load those files with the, voice file and the icon, if necessary.

You need to put all the

You need to put all the files in the same folder, then use POI loader to load them all at the same time. There is a section in the FAQ that shows you how to do this.

I have the folders named the same. I also have the sox.exe in my garmin poi folder. I just ran the poi loader and I got an error stating that the wav files could not get converted. Do you hav any other suggestions?

What do you mean when you write "Garmin POI Folder?" Sox.exe (version 14.0.1 only) needs to be in the folder containing the POILoader program files, not the folder that POILoader looks to for the various custom POI csv, gpx and wav files.
