We've come a long way since Robby the Robot

Robotics are making great advancements. Watch how human-like the movements are. Even the minor foot and arm adjustments to stay balanced must require major programming to accomplish.

If you want to see a amazing robot in action, check youtube for the Da Vinci Xi medical robot,
MY son was operated on for cancer with it and was out of the hospital in less than 8 days.

Da Vinci Did my prostate

Da Vinci Did my prostate surgery in 2016... I wish I could have seen it in action, but I was 'sleeping' smile!

A 2689LMT in both our cars that we love... and a Nuvi 660 with Lifetime Maps that we have had literally forever.... And a 2011 Ford Escape with Nav System that is totally ignored!

Sleeping

Look on Youtube, they show a prostate surgery.
it's amazing

Unexpectedly

Unexpectedly, I just learned some fascinating information about a medical robot which I did not know existed, on a forum officially dealing with a very different subject . . .

Part of the reason I enjoy coming here is learning new things.

Learning new things

I think we all learn new things here, we all come from different places
and backgrounds. That is one of the things that make this site so interesting.

Dr. Zachary Smith .....

Approves of this thread. grin

advances

things are changing so fast you cant keep up with them, auto's medical, information about anything . a person doesn't have to leave home to work , buy food, see a movie, buy clothing any thing a person needs all online and impersonal , mans tools are improving in leaps and bounds but I think we are becoming less involved with each other and more involved with the things we create but we will see what happens tomorrow .

I always preferred

B9 to Robby.

Rise of the robots

Those of you that are interested in the latest on Robotics can watch "Rise of the Robots" on your local PBS station Wednesday night (Dec. 6, 2017) at 9 PM - check your local listings as it may be at a different time on your local station. This is one of the "Nova" series programs. Nova shows are always well researched and usually extremely interesting. If you miss it, it is usually shown again, but at odd times. Again - check your local listings!

I hope I don't forget to watch!
