Solving GPS problems

Garmin has a pretty good on line support that can help solve many problems you may be having with your device. Also a good way to gain knowledge on a future model you may have in mind. Here is the link https://support.garmin.com/en-US/ .Just put in your model number and you will have the option to choose a topic or to do a search.

Any new idea you may have let Garmin know http://www8.garmin.com/contactUs/ideas/

The

The Help Starts Here page looks like an interesting place but I think the Have an Idea page (or one like it) has been around for years. It would be interesting to know if any feature in the Garmin automotive GPS has ever come from user suggestions submitted to that page.

New Features should be credited

If Garmin adds a feature, as a result of a suggestion, they should give credit. There could be several people offering the same or similar ideas, so not practical to name the people.

However, they could have a running list of new features, and simply say it was thanks to user suggestions. That would encourage more users to submit ideas.

Thanks for the suggestion link

Here is one I just suggested. If others think something similar would work.. perhaps multiple / similar suggestions just might get it done.

School Zone alerts. Now that the latest map update has included "some" school zone alerts, they soon get annoying. Here is one easy solution to the aggravation.

Muting the alarm if and when the speed is < 10 KPH And.. consider the speed when warning me about an upcoming school zone. .6 KM might be fine in the country when traveling at speed. .but 6 KM is a bit soon when in the city and that school is several blocks away.

Phone support is good too

I've called Garmin telephone support dozens of times and it's pretty good for getting help that you can't find online. Certain days/times can be busy like when they first open on a Monday, Friday night, etc. but generally it's not too bad and it's US based with English speaking techs. A+

saving Favorites

I used that website to submit my idea that when I give a new Favorite a Name, I should also be able to enter the peripheral information for that Favorite (Category, phone number, etc. etc.).

Currently we have to give it a Name and that's all you can do. To add peripheral information you exit out of that screen, browse or search to it in your Saved Favorites, then Edit it. Quite cumbersome.

I'm curious if any of the new Drive models are different than my Nuvi models in this regard?
