Cool

I found a vehicle icon closer to my car than what I have now.
Thx

There

There was a thread opened here in 2010 (http://www.poi-factory.com/node/29928 ) talking about this site. It's good that the vehicles available there can still be used on newer Garmin models.

I've used 2 vehicles from that site. One for a VW Sportwagon and another for a Chevy Equinox. Both look and work very well.

Fun vehicles

I've downloaded and used a number of vehicles from that site. I currently have two loaded in my unit that match the cars we have, and added a few others like the Batmobile and aircraft and spacecraft.

How about DriveSmart Series?

Does that work on DriveSmart series too?

Downloaded 2

Just wondering is there someone here who would know how to change the color of a vehicle icon from gray to white?

I made an extra copy of a BMW and Audi and opened it in Notepad and in MS Excel. MS Paint won't open.
In both cases all I see are hieroglyphics. Nothing that jumps out at me.

Yes, I use them with my DriveSmart 50LMTHD.

Tried without success

I've tried in the past, without success. These are actually a number of pics to allow for turns.

Good site

Don't get too hung up on getting a vehicle and colour just like yours. The vehicle on the screen is so small, if it's close that's fine. I found a blue SUV that was a different model and make, but almost the same colour as mine. You'd never know the difference.

I did it once

It was a while ago, but I did it once. It was either an online editor or Photoshop - I forget which? But, I remember using a tool that changed HUE to change the color.

UPDATE: it was both. The link is the converter.
http://techmods.net/nuvi/?_ga=2.75662033.59892475.1507966256...
Then edit the *.PNG file in Photoshop.

Same here

I also did it once a while back. It took a bit of trial and error and I never really managed to get it looking as good as I'd hoped, so ended up just using the original gray color. I'm sure with more patience and/or skill it would have turned out better though.

Ditto

I also looked into trying a color change and went back to the original gray of my vehicle.

Thanks

Thanks, I very briefly and quickly had a look at the link you provided and did one conversion to png. Will have to take my time to see if I can change the color

I had been using a white Honda vehicle icon which is actually quite nice. The only added attraction with either the BMW or the Acura vehicle icon is that they both have a sunroof.
Silly me?

Follow up

Out of curiosity, I converted a white vehicle with the tool, then tried some editing in Photoshop Elements.
To change the color quite easily, I used
Enhance>Adjust Color>Adjust Hue/Saturation
then tick the Colorize box, and have at it with the sliders.
One other method was
Filter>Adjustments>Photo Filter
then tick Color, choose the color you want, and play with the Density slider.

Proper way to load vehicles to my nuvi 3597?

in my past models I could simply drag and drop into the folder on the nuvi that had vehicles. This time, with my 3597 this operation is not allowed. Using Windows 10 on a PC. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I just finished dragging and dropping a few vehicles in the "vehicles folder" on my 2595 using my Windows 10 64 bit Home without issue.
Are you running the latest 10 version?
If not, run Updates and see if it finds anything.

The newest cumulative update is kb (KB4041676), which will bring you up to date with the latest version.

Well there is something for me to try next. Actually I printed it out cause otherwise I'd forget. Old fart you know. Otherwise haven't had any luck.
Thx

No luck

Well I found out that Photoshop Elements is quite expensive.
Not about to pay $ 150.00 just to change the color for ONE icon.

I do have a quite old copy of Photoshop (v.7) but to be honest I tried to follow JC's destruction's and wasn't able to replicate.

So I guess I'll live with a white HONDA icon (Not my car) without sunroof.

Thanks in any case JC

No need to pay for Elements just to alter a couple of icons. You can download a fully functional Photoshop Elements 2018 from the Adobe website. You can use it as a "trial" version for 30 days.

Just "Google Photoshop Elements free" and click on the results link called "Try the latest Photoshop Elements - Adobe". You will need to open or login into an Adobe account.

Thanks so much for the link and procedures you've posted here. I've sat and looked at a vehicle icon on both the 3597 and the DriveLuxe 50 that were the right model but the wrong color of my vehicles for months and years. Not anymore. grin grin

But as I said I'll live with the white car without sunroof icon I have.

2 reasons

Right now busy getting ready for my 3,000 mile drive into Mexico for the winter.

Also I very much dislike having to enter my contact information into websites for their FREE download.

But thanks anyway.

fun, will play it. thanks

fun, will play it. thanks

A bottle

I downloaded a PNG of a champagne bottle to use as my Garmin vehicle from this site years ago.

Why? Because my wife loves champagne! We still laugh every time we fire up the GPS.

Instead of a vehicle, this little bottle has never led us astray ... although if my wife has a a few glasses of champagne, I get ... naw, I'm not going there!

I noticed that the site still offers the bottle under the "WHATEVER" section.

I was unaware that there were custom vehicles. Thanks for posting.

Garmin Vehicles

Garmin Support sent me the vehicle files that are included on the Garmin GPS Units. I tried a few, but now I used a large 3-D red arrow, not to conflict with the white turning movement arrow, from this site.
It works great with both the daytime and nighttime GPS screens.

Thanks

I have the rotating Tardis from this site but forgot that's where I got it.

Really nice - great site

Really nice - great site also.

Thanks!
