So unlike a typical end of August day. Have a great week.
Bad luck with Garmin on last trip
I had bad luck with my GPS on a trip to Europe last week. I paid to update the European map so I and downloaded the POIs from Google Maps, so I thought I was ready to go. As expected, no cell phone data service in Italy, so the Garmin should have been ready to go. I ended up having a car that didn't have a working cigarette charger. It had USB, but the Garmin thought it was connected to a computer and wouldn't come out of USB mode, like my previous Garmin. I thought i had a back up plan w/ a portable battery pack to keep the Garmin charged, but the Garmin thought the battery was a computer and wouldn't work. Fortunately maps.me offline maps on the phone worked well enough until I could get WiFi, to download offline Google maps. Unfortunately the car couldn't keep the phone charged all day, but by charging it during brakes with the battery, kept it active long enough.
I have another trip this week to Vegas. It's good to have back up plans.
