. . . I noticed Google Play's list of apps with updates shows the app was updated March 1st, yet today is the first time it's shown up as one of several apps with updates ready--and I update throughout the week, not just occasionally, so it's not that I missed something earlier.

Once you view app's description, however, it does show June 7 (yesterday) as the date for the version 2.5.0 release.

There's one for Mac, Also. I'm mobile, so I'll get out later.

Just updated my Tracfone.

Updated - no issue so far, seems a little snappier which is nice to see. At first, it said no traffic, I reinstalled, same outcome. There must have been a temporary outage in the morning on 6/7/17.

I updated the app on my iPhone and when I tried the traffic, it stated that there were no traffic providers. It did appear to be a little faster in connecting with the GPS. It also says on the app update that it disabled permanent GPS usage; whatever that means. It also says that is has improved background management and enhanced power efficiency. At the present time, I don't know if this is an improvement or not due to the inability at this time, to pick up traffic data.
(Just had a brainstorm. I unchecked the compatible traffic accessory required box and then rechecked the box. Traffic started working at that point.)

...the new Smartlink app worked better than it has in the past. I turn on the app before starting my car and my 3597 picks up Smartlink within a couple of minutes. Sometimes faster. I was in Hocking Hills State Park heading back to Cincinnati when I activated Smartlink. I left Hocking Hills and within 20 miles Smartlink told me that there was slight traffic on the route. It was stating that the traffic was on the south side of Columbus in an area where Columbus HD traffic would not have been available. About 20 minutes later, Smartlink told me that the traffic had cleared and traffic was running normally. Like I said, this was in an area where HD traffic would not have been available. I think this last app update may have solved a few problems that has been plaguing the app in the past.

Smartlink has always worked well, for me. The only problem I have is that I turn off the Hands Free phone part. My radio, (UConnect), handles that much better than the GPS does. Turning off the Hands Free makes the recognition not so automatic, and occasionally requires manual intervention to make it connect.
