It didn't take down the internet.

It infected machines that weren't patched, and up to date, making those machines unusable. Mainly because of the pirated SW used in Russia, China, and other countries.

As for being at risk, I'm not. I use Linux. That said, Wine is vulnerable if you use it for Windows programs, and you're not patched.

So many conflicting

So many conflicting articles. I don't know who to believe anymore. This article says WinXP aren't affected.
