Chuck Berry Dies at 90; Helped Define Rock ’n’ Roll. John Lennon said "You might just call (it Rock n Roll) Chuck Berry."
Saw that on news tonight. Been watching Hail! Hail! Rock and Roll which I haven't seen for many years. Chuck was the true king of rock and roll. When Elvis died people kept saying "The King of rock is dead" and I would answer "Chuck Berry is not dead."
I never was much of a fan of his, but he created a big impression on rock and roll. He left quite a legacy. I guess if I had to pick a favorite song it would be 'Sweet Little Sixteen".
will never die as long as good ol' Rock n Roll is played somewhere.
Marvin Berry weeps.
A nod to one of my favorite movies.
Growing up on the Canadian Prairies, I didn't know much about Chuck Berry. I was too busy listening to the Beatles, the Stones and our own local groups. Of course, I didn't realize that many of the songs (and a lot of the riffs) being played were from Chuck Berry. Around and Around, Roll Over Beethoven, Maybellene, Memphis and many more "hits" of my youth were originally done by Chuck.
He was an original, and an originator. Rest in Peace Mr. Berry.
Grew up with him in the 50's and 60's. Always entertaining.
Chuck Berry did a lot for rock 'n roll and was an influence on many artists. May he rest in peace.
Rest in Peace Chuck
yesterday, outside of Blueberry Hill in Universsity City. It keeps growing, as more people remember him for the legend that he was.
Keith Richards sad that they were playing in the same place and Chuck had gone to get the money or something (he said Chuck was a bit of a tightwad). Richards picked up Chuck's guitar to check it out. When Chuck walked in and saw him he said, "Nobody touches my guitar" and punched Richards in the face Keith Richards said it was one of Chuck Berry's 'greatest hits'.
he was a tremendous pioneer and influencer of American rock & roll music.
