2006 Streetpilot 7500

Hi,

We purchased the Streetpilot 7500 for our motorhome in 2006. It is still in great condition but I have no idea if it is still useful/updateable/valuable in any way.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

This was a nice large-screen

This was a nice large-screen GPS with optional Serius XM, and was really expensive in its time. With a SD card it should be capable of being upgraded with current North America mapset. I think it can be updated with Garmin Express, but you should go ahead and plug it into an AC adapter and see what happens. My Streetpilot 2820 was able to run current City Navigator maps. Memory was too small for the entire North America mapset, but that should not be a problem with the SD card expansion on the 7500.

To the best of my knowledge Garmin does not support this unit at all. You might call them and see if they will accept your unit towards an upgrade discount. Best way to see what it is worth, is to post it on Ebay and let it go to the best bid.

Welcome kjharris!

Welcome to the POI Factory forum kjharris! Lots of good information and helpful folks here, so I hope you stick around a while and check things out.

I see the MSRP on the SP 7500 was almost $1400! Wow! that was a major investment. Even knowing that though, in my opinion the SP series is not worth spending the money on a map update because of its age and limitations because of file size and storage. The exception is if the XM support and MP3 player are critical features. On any newer device you will have to give up both of those features. But depending on the model selected you will gain many new features including multi point routing, stored routes, lane guidance, school zone alerts, lifetime map updates and many others.

I am not sure if you are asking because you just want to sell your SP or if you are considering a replacement. If you just want to sell it, I think the advice given by GPS_Rider is correct. If you want to buy a replacement, shop around and decide what features you want. You might want to look at factory refurbished devices. They are like new, contain a full Garmin warranty and can be purchased for significantly less than new devices.
