Problem with "Campgrounds and RV Parks Combined"

I'm new to custom POIs and am having a problem with "Campgrounds and RV Parks Combined". When I use the Garmin POI loader to load this CVS file to my 1450 Nuvi, I get an error message that there is a problem with the second line of the file. I've successfully loaded several other CVS and GPX files to my nuvi, but this great list of campgrounds just won't go. Is there a problem with this file or am I doing something wrong???

First of all, welcome

Welcome to the site.

We usually recommend the following.

There is a "Learn" button in the upper right of this page next to "red light cameras" that takes you to a Getting Started page. It is worthwhile visiting this page.

To make navigation easy, most browsers provide the following option. When you want to follow a link - but still keep your current page open - you can hold down the "Ctrl" key as you left-click on a link. That action will open a new "Tab" in your browser up on the "Tab" bar. When you then left-click on that new "Tab", you will follow the link - leaving the "Tab" you are now reading open and available to click on and return here.

So, using the "Learn" link, you might try the "Ctrl" - left-click sequence and then return here. You can return by either "X-ing" out of the "Getting Started" page (using the "X" on the "Tab" itself) or just left-clicking on the "Tab" for the page you are on right now.

Note that the Learn Button will give you access to two valuable reference pages -
the "Index" to all of the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and the Glossary of Terms and Links.

Since you are new here, I encourage you to go through a couple of the Tutorials.

The first link makes sure the settings on your computer are such that you can do more advanced POI loading.

The next link helps you make a backup of your GPS by attaching it to your computer. (NEVER do anything to your GPS until you have a backup). It also assures that you put your (newer) unit into a state where you can see all of the folders there.

Contact the author of the file and let him know the problem so corrections can be made. Click the contact tab http://www.poi-factory.com/user/130944 and leave a message of the problem.

File seems OK

I just downloaded the .csv file from
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/17657

and I loaded it using POILoader without problems.

Why don't you delete that already downloaded .csv file and download it again?

It's The Gpx

He must be referring to the gpx file version from last week. I also had the error message from POILoader.

@jpbmass

Just go ahead and contact the author of the file and let him know the problem. This will prevent a problem to other members who may want to download the file. http://www.poi-factory.com/user/130944

Cockpit Error I Thinik

I did a couple of things and everything now works OK -- (1) I had two versions of the same file in my POI directory-- a CSV and a GPX (made from the CSV). I deleted the GPX. (2) Also, I had included an ampersand in the sub-directory name (Campgrounds & RV) where all my RV files are located -- I replaced the ampersand with an underline. Then, I reloaded the complete set of and everything worked just fine. Apparently the original source file is just fine. Thanks to everyone for the comments.

good for you.

And, we always appreciate knowing what the solution was.

Fixed...

Glad you got it fixed but I really wish it was illegal to call an RV park a "campground".

I just saw your posts and since I maintain the file I think you are referring to, I also ran the tool to check for problems and just now ran POI loader using the download copy of the file, not my original and also saw no problems. Glad you were able to resolve it and all is working as advertised for you.

I do not publish a .gpx version of my file, I assume you converted the .csv to make one for yourself. Thank you for following up and letting us know you got it fixed.

I Thought

I thought he was referring to the Combined US Campgrounds gpx file by rivopom that was triggering the error message on POILoader. My bad.

RV Resorts

What should also be illegal are some of the RV parks that call themselves "RV resorts". Some of these "resorts" look more like the places old RVs go to die...
