Making POIs show up on Maps - and using them to avoid routing via??

Hi all,

In my old Garmin III collection I could make POIs and waypoints show up on the map (eg redlight cams, etc)... I understand you can add proximity alarms etc, still figuring that out for my c550 - but I just want to show the contents of a CSV file on my maps, not just have them listed in my POI list - any suggestions for the c550 to do this?

Along these lines, I used to also be able to block certain points on a route so that the GPS would stop trying to route through the area... I seem to be marginally smarter than the Garmin on occasion... and would like to tell it to use either a given route (alas c550s do not seem to have this option, not a great Garmin move, along with no lat/long access). But at least I'd hope a POI (or waypoint??) could be made to block the Garmin from routing a given path?

Any thoughts or help?

Thanks!

showing POIs on Zumo

I have a similiar question. How do I get POIs to display on maps on the Garmin Zumo?

Zumo and POI display

On my Zumo, in Where to/browse map, if I am zoomed to the 300ft level it will show my POI's. That's kind of close though. My favorites show at a higher level.

setting route to avoiding POIs

I'm familiar with the avoid area / road-segment settings on older Garmin models, but I've never come across an option to have calculated routes avoid POIs.

Have you seen this on other models?

POI - manual install

I noticed that during manual install (as opposed to express) in POI Loader, you can pick the proximity warning in the Streetpilot series... but still have not found means to show them on the map... will go try the 300 ft zoom now....

yep - zoomed way in (well on a c550 you never know what "level", but I'd guess 300 ft....) - and the waypoints popped into view... no POIs that I saw, though I may have missed them in my quick test....
