Pilot / Flying J truck stops

I have tried to load the pilot / Flying J POI and all that comes through is the listings but it will not open when I press the go to button. For some reason it is telling me, when I download, that the file is corrupt. I had this working a while ago, added some other POI's and now it does not continue to let me "go" to any of them. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Pilot / Flying J Truck Stops

Well since I got no help or comments, I reloaded it for the Rand McNally to try to see if that worked instead of the Garmin. Surprise, it did. Unfortunately I now have a double set on the Garmin so now I got to figure how to take the one off ( the one with the messes up Pilot / Flying J ) so I have just one set.

The GPX file has 10 fields which were apparently converted to CSV using 9 of those fields thus creating a file of 9 fields instead of the required 4 for a CSV format. You can use Excel to manipulate the existing file into a 4 column format. I would do so in the order of concatenation: Column E,F,G,H,D,I resulting in a final Column D containing: Address, City, St, Zip, Phone, and Country.

You should be able to simply delete the unwanted file from your listing then rerun POILoader and send the result to your GPS.

@Davesgps

Welcome to the site.

We usually recommend the following.

There is a "Learn" button in the upper right of this page next to "red light cameras" that takes you to a Getting Started page. It is worthwhile visiting this page.

To make navigation easy, most browsers provide the following option. When you want to follow a link - but still keep your current page open - you can hold down the "Ctrl" key as you left-click on a link. That action will open a new "Tab" in your browser up on the "Tab" bar. When you then left-click on that new "Tab", you will follow the link - leaving the "Tab" you are now reading open and available to click on and return here.

So, using the "Learn" link, you might try the "Ctrl" - left-click sequence and then return here. You can return by either "X-ing" out of the "Getting Started" page (using the "X" on the "Tab" itself) or just left-clicking on the "Tab" for the page you are on right now.

Note that the Learn Button will give you access to two valuable reference pages -
the "Index" to all of the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and the Glossary of Terms and Links.

Since you are new here, I encourage you to go through a couple of the Tutorials.

The first link makes sure the settings on your computer are such that you can do more advanced POI loading.

The next link helps you make a backup of your GPS by attaching it to your computer. (NEVER do anything to your GPS until you have a backup). It also assures that you put your (newer) unit into a state where you can see all of the folders there.

Having just posted my standard welcome, I want to apologize for having missed your posting back on the 23rd where you said

When I go to the pilot / Flying J POI at http://www.poi-factory.com/node/46373, I see that it offers a Garmin .gpx file and a .csv file for Rand McNally.

I downloaded both files and did not have a problem with the downloads.

I assume that you used POI Loader to add the .gpx file to Custom POIs on your RV760LMT. An alternative would have been to copy the .gpx file to your device, in which case it become a Favorites/Saved Places.

Which did you do?

I am assuming POI Loader based based on the comment

Now I have to assume that you downloaded the RM .csv file into the same folder to which you originally downloaded the Garmin .gpx file in which case, this folder contained two files
Flying-J_Pilot_Fuel_Stops.csv
Flying-J_Pilot_Fuel_Stops.gpx

Then when you tried to load the .csv file, I have to assume that you were asked if you wanted to overwrite the existing file on your device, you said yes and so both the .csv file and the .gpx file were loaded.

If this is the case then what I would suggest you do is run POI Loader and let it delete all Custom POI files on the device so that we can give you a fresh start.

If my assumptions above are incorrect, then let is know - in detail - what you did so we can get your device working the way you want it to.
