MANUAL

Ok. I just received my 60LMTHD GPS. I went to Garmin.com to get a manual. There is several manuals, but not for the 60LMTHD. Any suggestion. Also, Do the battery have to be fully charge before I can register it?

The

The manual for the SmartDrive 60 is the same as the one for the 50/60 and 70. It's here:

https://support.garmin.com/support/manuals/manuals.htm?partN...

The fact that you have a LMTHD doesn't really matter as that just means your unit has Lifetime Maps and HD traffic. Also the manual being the same for all three models indicates that they are procedurally the same with the screen size being the noticeable difference.

As long as your unit is attached to the PC then it's charging through the USB port so it should not be any issue to register it through Garmin Express in that state.

I thought that it should charge, but when I went to register through GE, it could not find it. I am charging the unit to see if it will charge.

Well ...

... GE not being able to find it may have nothing to do with its charge state. Can you see the device in Windows Explorer?

Turn the GPS on first and then plug it in to the computer.

Good luck with the 60LMTHD!

Cable problems

I have been amazed how many problem reports I have seen on the Internet over the years where the final resolution has turned out to be the use of a different cable. Several years ago I reached the point where the first place I look in the event of a problem is the cable.

That frequently DOES turn out to be the issue.

In addition to that for some reason or other I sometimes have problems using either the USB 2 or USB 3 port. It will work on one but not the other using the same cable. No I do not have USB 3 cables as far as I know.
