W 10

I've gotten to like W 10, but I hate the "EDGE" browser.
It pops up when I do not want it and takes over from Mozilla Firefox which is my browser of choice.

See this Google website to at least disable "Edge" from popping up.

I've never seen Edge "pop up" which I guess is another advantage to having Chrome or Firefox set as your default browser in Windows 10.

PDF files

I have problem with Edge assigning pdf files with itself, even as I have Adobe Reader installed. It's very annoying, as I'm using forms in pdf format, that have to be filled. But evidently Microsoft knows better what program I need to use with pdf files. Thankfully after manually changing file association to Reader so far it stays this way.

Maybe Edge can 'Read' the PDF, then inspect the changes and send them (after modification) somewhere....

Who knows?

Setting Preferences

Getting windows 10 to behave did require setting preferences as the defaults didn't work for me. Windows 10 tends to hold on to some even when you think they have been set to a non Microsoft program.

Edge

I've gotten to like Windows 10 but, you're right, this is a major annoyance ...

That's true

That's true

Right with you.

Right with you.

Edge and PDFs

I wonder what you guys are doing. Between Acrobat X Pro for creating PDFs and Foxit for reading them I have double the opportunity for Edge to set itself as the default. Yet it hasn't happened.

I guess I'm lucky.

I was very careful on install. Did not use Express Setup. Disabled location stuff and stuff about sending info. Did not allow Edge to be set as default. Using Firefox as default.

Was having Firefox lock up with W7, but problem cured after W10.

the key to any set up

Never use express install for any program. Always check custom if you can, that way you'll be able to see exactly what is being installed and possibly be able to choose setting as you go.
