charge indicator comes on for about 15 seconds and then tells me cable wont charge .
computer and garmin wont connect
bought new usb cable and same result
uninstalled usb drivers and same problem after starting again
tried all of usb ports on the computer too
tried on my apple computer and same results
any thing else I could try ?

garmin express

uninstalled garmin express and when I plugged in to computer , it still wont connect to computer but charge light stays green and I don't get message cable wont charge unit .

try this

In Garmin Express, if there is an icon for the nuvi, delete the nuvi.

Disconnect the nuvi from the computer.

Restart the computer.

Restart the nuvi - not just sleep.

Start Garmin Express.

Connect the nuvi, and Garmin Express should detect it and load Garmin USB drivers. An icon for the nuvi should appear. It is not known whether the Garmin USB drivers will work in Windows 10 with every hardware configuration.

Cable?

Are you using the USB cable that shipped with your 2757 or one purchased from GARMIN?

Some aftermarket cables have a different pin out and are not compatible.

cable won't charge

I have not heard anything about cable not charging. It could be a bad cable. Does the 2757 have the mini USB socket to the printed circuit board, not a powered mount?

Edit - Craig says it has a powered mount, but this socket could still be broken on the nuvi.

I have 5 usb cables that fit this unit . the one that came with the garmin is direct connect to a 12v plug . I used the one that I first connected unit to computer and garmin express . I had the 2757 icon in garmin express . I had put my red light and speed pois in this unit . I have had unit in my truck until I got the update notice . when I couldn't connect with the first usb that I had used , I purchased a new one and the same results . will not connect to computer .

nuvi comes with USB cord

Every nuvi comes with a Garmin USB cord, regular size USB at one end and mini-USB at the other. The pinout on this cord is different than the usual USB cord available for sale.

Look in the nuvi box - it's in there!

tried your suggestion , and it didn't work . I'm getting cable will not charge this unit message again .( remember new cable )

strange

the other thing that's strange as soon as I disconnect the cable I get external power supply has been disconnected even though it tells me unit wont charge with this cable .maybe just stuck with whatever is on there now.

Power cradle?

I think the 27xx series is one that has a powered mount. If that is the case, make sure you are plugging your computer directly into the nuvi (without the cradle). The nuvi will not go into MTP or mass storage mode if you are powering through the cradle.

My bleary-eyed response (my 2nd cataract surgery was this morning):

I agree. Map updates, software updates, POI Loader runs, etc. need to be done without going through the powered mount. Unplug the Garmin USB cable from the powered mount, then find the USB socket on the nuvi itself and plug it in. Updates should now proceed with the nuvi in computer mode rather than navigation/charge mode.

it worked
