Can favorites be routed to SD card on zumo 550

Trying to upload the HD dealer POI to my zumo 550. Downloaded from POI Factory to my .GPX on memory card but when I try to import it after disconnecting gps from pc it wont let me do it. Says I need to deselect some 374 dealer files. Is there a way to make the zumo 550 internal memory for favorites go to the SD card .gpx storage?

You need to use poiloader and to install as a custom poi file to your SD card. Based on your post you are loading them to your favorites and it sounds like the file to large to install there. See

By the way welcome to POI Factory. I see that you just joined.

Welcome to the site.

We usually recommend the following.

There is a "Learn" button in the upper right of this page next to "red light cameras" that takes you to a Getting Started page. It is worthwhile visiting this page.

To make navigation easy, most browsers provide the following option. When you want to follow a link - but still keep your current page open - you can hold down the "Ctrl" key as you left-click on a link. That action will open a new "Tab" in your browser up on the "Tab" bar. When you then left-click on that new "Tab", you will follow the link - leaving the "Tab" you are now reading open and available to click on and return here.

So, using the "Learn" link, you might try the "Ctrl" - left-click sequence and then return here. You can return by either "X-ing" out of the "Getting Started" page (using the "X" on the "Tab" itself) or just left-clicking on the "Tab" for the page you are on right now.

Note that the Learn Button will give you access to two valuable reference pages -
the "Index" to all of the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and the Glossary of Terms and Links.

Since you are new here, I encourage you to go through a couple of the Tutorials.

The first link makes sure the settings on your computer are such that you can do more advanced POI loading.

The next link helps you make a backup of your GPS by attaching it to your computer. (NEVER do anything to your GPS until you have a backup). It also assures that you put your (newer) unit into a state where you can see all of the folders there.

As Charlie has indicated, what you really want to do is use POI Loader to create "Custom POIs" and not use "Favorites" for vaious POI files.

Your device will only allow a total of 500 Favorites. You were trying to load the HD file with 863 entries. Add to those the Favorites you already have and you can arrive at the number of entries it was telling you to delete.

Yes you can put a .gpx file on the device or the SD card and they will become part of Favorites but there are many reasons why you should want to use Custom POIs - one of which is that they can be put into Categories as Charlie's FAQ indicates. Also, with multiple files, you want to be able to select between the various files.

Again - welcome

John

Sure you will be installing many custom poi files once you discovered what available here at POI Factory. Installing custom pois gives you a big advantage in installing voice alerts and your own customize icon(bmp) .Favorites allows no voice alerts and you are stuck with what is available under the edit option for the icons.Adding categories for your custom poi’s will give you more organization for your files. Not sure about your model but most Garmin models since the around the Nuvi 265 release allows categories for favorites. But you are limited on how many based on the model.
