nuvi 2797 Alerts

Got a new 2797 and cannot get custom POI proximity alerts to work, Voice and standard built in alerts work fine. Audio and Alerts are turned on in unit. Changed mp3 files to wav. made sure names of wav files were identical to poi, no double extensions, sox.exe put in POI loader directory, Used Manual mode in Poi Loader and set it for Manual. Can't think of anything else Im missing.
I had a Garmin street pilot 7200 but due to the fact it will only support a 2G sdc card cannot use it anymore. Never had trouble with its alerts.
Any help appreciated

Start small

I suggest starting with a small POI file that has locations near you and where the coordinates of these locations are within 30 meters of the road on which you will be traveling.

What have you tried to load?

POI Loader

When you ran POI Loader in Manual mode, did you check the box for each POI to allow alerts?

alerts

Put in campgrounds, rest areas, truck stops, Walmart. Set the alert for Walmart just to test it. Went by two different Walmarts no alert, did check box in poi loader. GPS showed where both Walmarts were as I approached them. Double checked to make sure wav was named the same, exactly the same. Audio set up, boxes all checked on GPS to alert and set to continuous alert. I assume the 2797 is suppose to give alerts.

Walmart locations

You may actually be all set. If the Walmart POI location, likely the building itself, is more than 98 feet from the roadway you're on, there will be no alert:

Walmart POI location

Walmart may not be a good test to see if alerts work because we do not know where the POI was located by the POI file maintainer. It could be anywhere on the property, and if you did not drive directly at the POI within the alert distance, it is proper that no alert happened.

The best test POI would be on a road. When you drive past it you can't miss.

Rest Areas

And luckily, Rest Areas Combined was loaded. So a drive by (or simulated route) past some rest areas will be the validation needed.

And if that fails, we'll confirm the sox version and location, wav specs, filenames, etc.

Verify alert first

Just to verify you do indeed have alerts set up. Turn your gps on and touch Where To,Custom pois,Walmart then touch any one of the Walmart locations that are set up for alerts. Don't touch go.Touch the i next to routes. Now look at screen and see if you see alert information on left side. If you do, then set up is correct and you can now get to the root of the problem. The problem is most likely that you are out of alert zone (appx 98 ft) if you see the information on the left side. To correct the problem you can then reset the coordinates which would be a large job or go with a TourGuide File set up.

If you have a problem here is a video on voice alerts, Wav and Sox.exe set up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsJTUmvb6_o

What I don't see

Is if the OP entered an alert distance. Just because you check manual, you still need to enter an alert distance for each POI file when loading with POI Loader.
