Will power cord included with Nuvi 2689LMT support traffic

The 2689LMT model I looked at did not have the rectangular box on the power cord like my 1450LMT does. Will this power cord support the traffic right out of the box?

We have a Nuvi 2689, and it

We have a Nuvi 2689, and it is powered via USB Cable connection.
Have gone halfway across country with no problem powering 2689 and traffic through the usb connector via cigarette lighter plug supplied on any trip.... Works fine...

Be aware, The receiver is still in the power plug, not the 2689, so if you use a USB Cable to power up the 2689, you won't have the receiver connected. Maybe that was your question?

A 2689LMT in both our cars that we love... and a Nuvi 660 with Lifetime Maps that we have had literally forever.... And a 2011 Ford Escape with Nav System that is totally ignored!

So the "receiver" is now

So the "receiver" is now built into the plug that goes into the power port of the car not a rectangular box that sits on the cord itself? I know traffic will not work when just plugged into my computers USB.

It's in the GPS for LMT-D models

Newer nuvis have the receiver for digital traffic built into the nuvi itself. If yours is a 'non digital' one, as implied by the LMT, then AFAIK the receiver is still in the power cable/plug.

Traffic receivers, antennae, etc.

Regardless of the location of the traffic receiver, you will need the specific Garmin power cable to receive traffic.

Some Garmin models have the traffic receiver built into the power cable and these cables are identified by their model number starting with GTM. Garmin models with the traffic receiver built into the nuvi itself will need a Garmin power cord with a traffic antenna and these power cables are identified with a model number starting with TA.

From what I see on Garmin's web site, the nuvi 2689 uses a GTM power cable meaning the traffic receiver is part of the power cord.
