Orlando (FL) to add up to 30 more red-light cameras

You can hardly drive anywhere in the City of the Mouse without hitting a red light camera. And soon, two or more....

"The Orlando City Council voted Monday to extend its contract with LaserCraft Inc., the company the city has used since 2008, when it began the Orlando STOPS program.
....
Right now, the city has nearly two dozen red-light cameras at 14 intersections across the city.
....
With Monday's vote, city leaders extended the program for another five years, with plans to add 30 more cameras at intersections around the city. At this point, however, it's unclear yet where the new cameras will be added.

The plan also removes seven cameras at intersections where city leaders said they feel the cameras have adequately reduced crashes."

That translates too those seven cameras are not making enough money, if they were actually reducing accidents why wouldn't they leave them in place?

Earlier this month the citizens of Tucson voted to remove all speed and red light cameras and now we have none not only in the City but also the entire Pima County. smile

I can only surmise the following logic applies:

If n > 0 then leave the ligbt

Where n = number of crashes in the past 7 years.

All crashes count!
