This is re-posted from "Keeping the Windmill Alive" since cruisers headed to Ft. Lauderdale (Garmin's "Port Everglades-Northport" POI) may run into it.
I had installed the 2016.10 map update before a road trip to Ft. Lauderdale's Cruise Port Terminal 2. What a disaster. The GPS tried to route us through a parking garage and shopping mall that apparently had been built since the map was last updated. Had the same problem on departure where the routing tried to turn us onto a street that had been closed.
The 2016.20 update shows about half of the shopping mall but still tries to route you through it, although the road ends in a 10 foot high barbed-wire security fence around the port!
Routing error has been reported to Garmin cartography, but cruise passengers beware.
Good to know, hope it will help someone.
tried to drive me into the local mall to arrive at the Verizon store...I was tempted but decided to park and walk in
It's a ploy. The Mall did it to get you to go shopping. It's not a drive-through mall yet, is it?
I run into these types of errors from time to time.
May have something to do with the fact that the maps are 2 years old before they make into a new map version.
They have drive thru beer marts...
That's what I am talking about.... Now I got to drive to Outer Banks !!! And I live in NY!
It's worth the drive.
Take US13 if you have the time.
...those parking garages.
Yes, The Outer Banks in NC has the famous "Brew Thru" stores. Lots of parties in Nags Head.
Thanks for alerting us to this problem!
Brew Thru is the BEST!!!
That's why I use Google Map unless there's absolutely no cellular signal.
Thanks For The Update...
Had a similar issue in Pittsburgh some months ago. tried to get from south side to downtown (a 5 - 10 minute deal), and nuvi had me going into a parking lot before I used human common sense to correct for the apparent error.
Thank you for the warning
Probably just wanted you to enjoy a more scenic route.
