4.1.9.0 finally updated my 2797.

4.1.8.0 failed or hung during updates. My Wifes 2797 updated just fine on 4.1.8.0.
Put 4.1.9.0 this morning and it acted differently but appeared to be doing something.
It bounced between 10 minutes and 23 hours and EVERY imaginable time in between. But it updated and I verified the maps.
Finally!

Thanks

Thanks for the update. Will check it out today,

Just installed

Took about 2-minutes. Now I see that 2016.20 is available. That might take a bit longer.

Thanks.

Thanks for the info. Will pull down the update tonight.

Thank you

Thanks for the info.

Updated without any problems.

GE 4.1.9.0

Thanks for info... Updated without an issue. Prior to, and After, no new updates, as they both (2689LMT & the limping 660 with Lifetime Maps) had been updated last week on 4.1.8.0

Nearly Impossible

That's nearly impossible. I suspect it was already downloaded in the background overnight - or mostly downloaded anyway.

Anyway, installed the new 4.1.9.0 Garmin Express with no issue.

4.1.9.0 Down load Restart Capability

The last post above is good news... From what was seen, it looks like download restart capability is working e.g. if a download fails or times out for whatever reason, the code is now smart enough to know where the download stopped, and restart at that point, rather than restarting the download from the beginning.

Thanks -- mac update

The Mac version updated as well, and very quickly -- think they've gotten the issues with app update cleared up.

When I did the download and install of 2016.20 to my desktop computer the total time to download the update, prepare and install was almost exactly 10 minutes. I have Comcast Xfinity Blast internet service that downloads at 150 mbps. smile

Garmin Express v4.1.9.0

Tried to update Garmin Express several times. All I get is this message: Update Check Failed
My current version of Garmin Express is: v2.3.7 (71)
Computer is MacBook Pro v10.7.5 (Lion)

Really don't want to update my system version at this time. I am thinking this might be the "bug."

Any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks! I'll download

Thanks! I'll download

Download error

Tried two time and got download error after a certain percent was completed. I removed Garmin Express completely from PC and installed 4.1.9.0 from scratch. No problems doing it that way. Remember this problem a while back on one of the versions but problem was resolved after new update. Not sure what was going on then but this problem seem to have returned. Seems it didn't effect all users who downloaded it back just like it doesn't now. .

odd?

I downloaded and installed map version 2016.20 to my 2460 with an old version on GE, it was 3.something, never got a notice there was a newer version of GE. Then I saw this thread. Looking around in GE itself I found a link to check for updates ... now I'm up to the 4.1.9.0. version.

The 2016.20 update to my first 2460 went long but no problems ... now to update my 2nd 2460 and two Zumo's ....

Well I updated my second 2460 via the newer GE and other than the time bar flashing and jumping all over regarding time left it went fine.

One odd thing, the older version of GE popped up a message that it saw the unit had an SD card inserted and installed the map on my SD card. The newer version of GE didn't do that with the second unit. Both, prior to starting the update, had around the same amount of used space on the unit (bar graph showing red and very little space left) with nothing on the SD card. Now the first unit is no longer showing the red bar and has some more space with some of the SD card now used, the second unit looks pretty much the same as before it was updated. Both units appear to have updated successfully.

One thing I noticed when poking around the newer GE was there is a way to transfer favorite among my 4 GPS's via GE, don't recall seeing that before. GE knows the 4 units I have.

Today ... the two Zumo's get the treatment.

No Notification of Express Update

I'm in the middle of several failed 2016.20 updates with 4.1.8.0 and just noticed this. As many times as I've been opening Express I would have thought it would alert me or update itself, but never saw anything.

Looks like I'm finally getting one of my units to update. Maybe I'll hunt for the Express update and see if it helps on my other unit and Basecamp map update.

If there was an easy way to put poi's on my CoPilot phone app, I'd throw all my Garmin junk out the window. No reason for all of this anguish to update a map, imo.

new one as old one?

So far I couldn't update maps with GE on my 770. If it only didn't wasted time to brake until after long maps download I would be willing to try again.

Anybody use GE to update Nuvi 770 wit success so far?

update

thanks for the info on the update .

I have updated my nuvi 760 using the last several versions of GE without incident. The 760 has had the map on the SD card for a while. It was put there by GE.

The nuvi 760 and 770 are the same.

May be a disk/card space issue

I finally got my updates done on both my 765T and 295. I was using my ASUS T100 Laptop/Tablet and it was a storage space problem ON THE INSTALL PC. I'm going to try to write something up and post it, but be aware that (on Win 10 anyway) GE downloads the 'raw' install files to C:/ProgramData/Garmin/CoreService/Downloads (which is hidden by default) and in the case of map 2016.20 the files are 8gb.

Although my download went fine, any install (to either device or PC) would fail without an explaination. ... Because to install I needed another 3 or 4gb for the final map build.

My problem was mainly that I also had the 5gb of install files on my C: drive in this same downloads folder that were leftover from my last install of 2015.40 .. They do NOT get removed after a map build/install!!

Geez ..

Yeah, I saw that post over there and put my expanded reply there too. Note that I also had a full 6+gb left on C: from my 2015.4 install! I should post a link to my other post here as well ..

Downloaded

Worked fine for 1390T and the new 2016.20 map.

To be honest, I avoided GE for a long time...

I have resisted installing GE until this last release. Installed GE (previous version) and tried to install the new maps only to have it stall part-way through the installation.
