Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – September 2015

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

Bike trip......

....to the HD Dealer. My "New to me" (2011) Road Glide Custom needs a bunch of TLC (new compensator and possibly new front rotors (warped?).

Now I know why it was so cheap.... there are a bunch of problems with it, even though it has less than 7K miles. Nice bike, but whoever owned it before beat it up some. It loooks like whatever $$ I saved on the purchase price will be eaten up in repairs.... Oh well, like I said, still a nice bike....

Been using my 2597 a lot

Been using my 2597 a lot recently since I started driving a tour/charter bus. It does a fair job of in town directions. For instance, it got me properly out of the Stadium of the University of Richmond.

Weekend trip Lowe's, Dick's and dinner

Our new nevi 2599 guided us to Lowe's, Dick's, and dinner. It got a little wonky on how to get into the Lowe's parking lot, but that aside, it worked well enough.

Going to look at the aspen turning gold.

I will drive to Denver late Saturday.

My friend, her best friend (flying in from Miami), and I will drive through Rocky Mountain National Park on Sunday unless the leaves are too far along or there is snow.

There are always lower elevations and places further south as alternatives. The Nuvi will show us the way!

He's needed to go since 2014. I just can't understand how he managed to negotiate such a good contract. Hope Jimmy Clausen has a good game this week.

Heading to Fargo ND

I'm off to a function in Fargo North Dakota for the weekend. (500 miles return)

Not only will I be using my Garmin Nuvi, but I'll have my iPad and Android phone with GPS apps loaded on each them along for the ride. (No chance of getting lost smile )

My iPad is actually my favorite GPS device. I like the big 10 inch screen.

Papal Visit

I don't envy those in Philly with the papal visit this weekend! I wonder if traffic GPS systems will automatically route around the road closures.

The term an "Overnight Wedding" really encourages all kinds of conjoured up images to come to mind!

Never argue with a pig. It makes you look foolish and it anoys the hell out of the pig!

Traffic and weather

I travel to different locations all the time for work and though I know most of the routes and locations I always have the 1450 on for traffic. Last week it kept me from getting on a highway ramp and a half mile later I saw all the traffic on the highway at a standstill from the side road. Saved me 45 minutes.

Used the zumo 665 XM Weather on the Road King 2 weekends ago to dodge the heavy rain on my trip home.

I have always have a GPS on when driving or riding.

been driving around 4000 miles in Sept. and of course all guided by my Nüvi smile

Niagara Falls for 70th Birthday

My husband took me to Niagara Falls to celebrate early for my 70th birthday. My birthday is not until November but it would be too cold to go then.
We left for our trip just a few days after my Radiology was completed. We returned Tuesday afternoon and on Wednesday morning my brother and his wife from Arizona was in our driveway... grin

It was a great but tiring trip. We spend several days on the Canada side and several days on the New York side. We also spent the better part of a day at Fort Niagara. If you are ever in the area be sure and go to Fort Niagara. I did not know about this and found out that it is a major part of our early American History.

Going to celebrate my mother's 97th birthday tomorrow.

Needless to say I am ready for some down time... smile

We flew to Alaska and Canada

We flew to Alaska and Canada in August (Princess Cruise-didn't bring GPS), and arrived back in Illinois in September, where we picked up wife's car and drove it (with Nuvi 660) to our retirement home in mountains of NC.
Stayed there a week, and Drove back to IL for a wedding, and then back to NC in a couple days.... With my mother in law... Who is visiting for a while...

BOTH GPS's worked beautifully!

As you see, I've been gone so long I DID lose my Windmill!!!

Chauffeured my wife up to Jacksonville for a Quilt Show. Killed a few hours at the local Harley dealer while waiting and had a nice brunch on Route A1A south of St Augustine ( The Reef - right on the ocean!)

Ran into a horrendous rain storm on the way home, but overall, a nice day smile
