Nuvi 3597 Question (Voice Command just comes on)

Anyone else have an issue with the Voice Command firing up for no good reason? Sometimes, not often, the Voice Command just comes on...happens with the music on and off...my start command is the default "Voice Command" any ideas?

False start

Change your start command, mine is "Hey Garmilla". You might also update to the latest firmware. Or reinstall it if you have already updated.

Mostly when having a

Mostly when having a conversation with a passenger.

I also have occasional wake ups with my start command of Hey Karen while I have my radio on. Can you guess which voice I use?

I agree that a different wake up command will help reduce these. As you create the wake up, look at the Strength Indicator and create a strength higher than the one you use now.

start the wakeup with

LISTEN and it won't wake up unexpectedly while you are sleeping as you go down the road

I also experienced voice command activation even with the radio off and no passenger, not often but does happen. Maybe the voices in my head is causing the activation? smile

I have strength of 66% using only "Voice On",
using default of "Voice Command" increases it to 79%.
The maximum number of characters you can enter is 21. Even by increasing to the 21 characters I was only able to get 96% by using phrase "Turning On Activation"
I wonder if any phrase can obtain 100%. Doesn't really matter to me since the occasional error of uncalled for voice activation is a minor nuisance.

It happens to me as well

It happens to me as well some times. Actually, it messed up my route last week in Edmonton Alberta. But as suggested, change the wake up command to something else to reduce the chances.

occasional

I get an occasional false activation on my 3597, but not very often ... maybe once every 30 or 40 hours of use. My phrase is "Hey Nimrag" which is 75%.

Thanks Folks

I will try a new wakeup command...though I have to say, unless addressing the 3597, I can't ever recall using the words "voice command" smile

Wakey, Wakey.

i used " Wake up dummy" on my 3790lmt and I still got the occasional wake-up on its own.
Never ever happens on my ancient 855lmt.

Phonetics.

Interpreting phonetics and converting to words is not an exact science. So it is not uncommon that the mic will pick up extraneous sounds and words and get a false positive match to your wakeup phrase.

It reminds me of my 855 voice recognition, I can't tell you the number of times when it interpreted my "page down" command as "go home". It would then cancel my active route and immediately calculate a route to my home destination with no chance to change or validate the command ... very frustrating!

With the radio on with voice or music, I have the occasional rare false alert. The most consistent false alert for me comes when my radio kicks in a weather alert:

This sound makes my nuvi think whatever Wakeup command I use has just been spoken.
