i think i remember this

I think I remember this from a couple years ago. Something about parachute places. The key thing will be the audio file. TourGuides must have an audio file announcement. That and spelling,

Maybe 100000 ft is too far when you are on the road. Try closer.

Agree

Agree, 100000 feet is a long way out. Not sure how having an almost 20 mile tourguide radius would be that helpful anyway.

Successful use on what?

shortround62, you say that you've used TourGuides before with success. Was it with your nuvi 2555 or an older model? If it was with an older model that could play mp3 audio, your TourGuide audio files may be mp3 files which won't play on your 2555. You'll need to use wav files instead. Check the faqs for instuctions on wav files, sox.exe, etc.

What is odd about what you wrote is that you say your TourGuide file does alert in Simulator mode but not on the road in regular Navigation mode. That's odd to me. It seems that it should either work for both modes or neither, but not just one.

As has been stated already, TourGuides require an audio alert which in your case must be a wav file. I also agree that testing the TourGuide with maybe a 3000 foot alert distance would help confirm that your 100000 foot setting is or isn't a problem.

Good luck and let us know how your fare.

Here are the instructions

Here are the instructions for setting up alerts using sox.exe and wav files http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25730 . The setting of 100,000 ft for the TourGuide radius is a lot. Not sure why you would need it set that high but the max setting for Poiloader is 200,000 ft see http://www.poi-factory.com/node/28650 .The greater the radius distance setting will result in setting off other alerts that are in the radius that are also set to alert you at different distances.
