wav files

I wonder, are there any Garmin GPS devices currently made that are mp3 capable? My 3590LM can only use .wav files. Every file I get from "sounds" section are in mp3 format, so I have to convert. I have a couple I will try to send in .wav format that are really good. One is for the "offbeat tourist attraction" poi, and the other is for "rest stops". Once you hear them, you will want to use them. They are pleasing to the ear, and recognizable as to what your GPS is telling you. Oh, and dont forget to put your sox.exe in the poiloader.exe folder, or they will not work. If you do not know where a proper version can be found, here is a link to a working version of Sox.exe: http://www.poi-factory.com/images/csv/sox-14-0-1.zip . Here is a helpful page called "Problem Solver", by user, jgermann, who did a good job with it BTW. The page is 2 years old, so some things may, or may not have changed. http://www.poi-factory.com/garmin/problemsolver

Unless you are the lead sled dog, the view never changes. I is retard... every day is Saturday! I still use the Garmin 3590 LMT even tho I upgraded to the Garmin 61 LMT. Bigger screen is not always better in my opinion.

Yes, the current zumo models (except the 390) have MP3 players.

Incidentally, thanks to Charlesd45, many of the .MP3 files in the sounds section of the site have been converted to .WAV. In those cases, you are offered both formats for the sound file. In fact, Charlie earned a COW award for doing that work. Here is the discussion thread that took place at that time: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/44035

WAV

The files that have been converted from MP3 to WAV are still being added to the POI files. Last check were files starting with M are being posted. That was several days ago. So more files are still outstanding. Rest Stop is in the list (flushing sound). Once they get posted. Should be able to see what new WAV files will then be needed to support other POI files.

Good deal, Charles45

I have not been on here in quite a while, so I was not aware of the massive conversion project going on. Since I retired, I mostly fly everywhere I go, so not used my Garmin much. I found the wav files on here after I posted my comment. It would have been better for everyone if Garmin had simply made all Garmins with mp3 capability, so we wouldnt have had to convert the files, or remember to put sox in the rood directory of poiloader. I had created a few sound files some years ago. Almost surprised they are still here.
