Changing map

I went through the update on my Garmin. The problem is, the map installed is "Southern US & Mexico. I live in the Pacific Northwest. How do I correct this problem? I saw nothing as to which map to install & now my Garmin is totally inacurate. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Map

As far as I know if you have/had all of North America installed on the GPS when you purchased it then you should be entitled to update to the complete maps.
If you purchased it in the southern part of the USA then it may not contain the northern USA and you cannot download the complete maps.

Having said that, if you try to reinstall your maps again there should be the options as to where and what to install. You just have to go slow and read all the options in EVERY screen presented to you to install. Don't just click OK, OK OK and carry on.

how did you update the map?

Did you use Garmin Express to update the map or another method? Is an SD card installed? It would be a good idea to get one.

It appears the OP has a Streetpilot C340 so there'd be the SD card size limit and filesize limits that will complicate map updates.

Still, when updating the map, the updater should offer a choice of which regions to install. The OP will need to reinstall the map being careful to choose a desired region.

You may want to review this info http://goo.gl/HcAe0O and https://goo.gl/54X8Ad pay close attention to note 4 StreetPilot c300 and i-Series devices do not currently support the SDHC (High Capacity) cards. All other devices will support SDHC (High Capacity) cards and will support up to class 10 cards.

Just in case you decide to use 2 SD cards (see note above for correct card) so you can split the maps. You will have to change them out but you will have all of the map.See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/31185
