The ZAP Québec vision is simple: Everyone located in a public space in the Québec area should be able to connect to the internet for free. The project of a wireless city was made possible by sharing the existing resources and by distributing the costs between the many corporate institutions and organizations.
Created in 2006, ZAP Québec is a non profit organization which relies on the contribution of its many volunteer workers to install, develop and do the maintenance of the different free internet access hotspots. This network is an undeniable added value to the economic, cultural and community development of the city of Québec. Our community needs communication and learning tools, tools that will reduce the digital divide that continues to serve in our population. The WiFi technology is a great opportunity to do this at a lesser cost.
ZAP Québec has become THE reference in wireless maters in the Québec Region by offering a reliable, secure and high bandwidth network in close to 200 hotspots in most boroughs. This unifying project is for and by the people and gives everyone a free accessible wireless internet network. No matter where you are, to browse the net for free look up the hotspots of your ZAP Québec network.
HOW TO LOG ON TO THE ZAP NETWORK?
Activate the WiFi on your device.
Display a list of available networks.
Connect to the ZAP network.
Open your browser; you will automatically be redirected to the ZAP portal.
Enter your username and password.
New ZAP Québec user, reply to the confirmation email and enjoy!
