How to manage PI files???

I have a question about how to manage POI files in my Garmin 2597LMT.

If I go to Categories -> Custom POIs I get a list of my POIs. However there are some duplicates. If I use BaseCamp, POI Loader or File Explorer I can find the list(s) of POs but only a single entry for each group of POIs.

How do I find and delete the redundant POI files?

Thank you.

Sounds like you have duplicate gpi files

I don't use Base camp so I can't comment on its use, but neither Poi loader or file explorer will show you what is on the gps for individual files. Poi loader installs the poi files and converts it to 1 file with a gpi extension.

I would use windows explorer and check to see if you have multiple gpi files installed for the same poi files.

I tried that....

I did that - I still cannot find duplicates.
Is there another file that they may be hiding?

Agreed

This would be the way to determine your Custom POI files. You are looking for .gpi files in the POI folder.

If there are two with the same name, I would suspect that you would want to delete the one with the oldest timestamp.

best guess

Best guess is you have multiple GPI files and they have duplicate files.

Illiterate? Write for free help.

Where did.you load the files?

Did you load these on an SD card? If so, when you install the SD into the GPS it will ask if you want to also load onto the GPS.

If you purposely or accidentally said Yes, you might get duplicates. Remove the SD and see if you still get duplicates.

Still not finding it.....

I went to Windows Explorer - made sure I could find hidden files -and duplicate files still to not show.

Then I would

Run poi loader again and delete ALL .gpi files. Then I would install your files again with poi loader.
