Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – May 2015

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

From a park to home ...

Unfortunately my GPS didn't understand the concept of dead-end streets and sent me down several in a failed attempt to guide me onto the nearest highway.

Guess I'll have to write the manufacturer and ask them to correct their maps ...

Spring Drive

Took a spring drive to visit a friend in Moundsville WV. He opened a restaurant there this year and I wanted ti see how it was. Good food - good times at Rockin Rowdy's.

Glenwood

I entered an address for glenwood rd and it took me to a different place! Even the map showed "J" and 5th streets. Odd.

Lost at Chaco Canyon!!

Recently, an old friend and I went on a tour of the "Four Corners" area, where New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona all meet at a single point. I bought a Garmin 3597 just for the trip, and I pre-planned our routes and loaded them onto the 3597. Our first stop was Chaco Culture National Historical Park. After our tour of the park, the new GPS quickly guided us to the middle of nowhere, dirt/sand/dust tribal roads on the vast Navajo Reservation to the point of a road that led to a fence and no farther. We eventually found our way out without the help of the 3597, but instead of returning to US 550 to Bloomfield, we wound up to the west on Highway 371 to Farmington! All was good from then on, but had the weather been poor, with muddy roads, who knows how long we'd been out there. The rest of the 1400 mile trip was beautiful, visiting six National or Tribal parks in four days.
