installed on Windows 7 64-bit system with no hiccups. Even kept all my original settings! Now all we need is a map update to really test this version

Now I will wait to see if it will update correctly. Up to this point, it would check for an update but would show a fail error every time.

For some reason, on the last 4/5 updates, when I click on "Check for Updates to Express" it never finds them. I have to go to the download site to get the update. If I click it when there are no updates, it shows "You're up to date".

I updated this morning before reading the thread. It works fine, but I need to sit down and do some organization of my data folders.

The guesses will be better than for the map updates.

Tried twice now and it seems to not allow me to install map to other than my SSD drive. Its only 64gb so I want to have the maps live on another internal drive like I've done before.
I'll keep playing with it.

Tried the old Updater and got an error there too, but saw I hadn't updated the Express. It worked this time, only putting the map files on one of my other internal drives.
In the previous attempts to place them on other than the SSD, it would seem to do it, but then not and I'd find 8gb of map files in a hidden ProgramData folder on C:.
I get lifetime North America and Europe so my MO is to install the NA directly to device and only install EUR to the PC. Then, if a trip overseas comes up I only load the maps needed.

Version 16 installed itself automatically on my p.c. - even though I specifically turned OFF that option. Version 17 also installed itself automatically; however, I believe it was to correct the issue with the prior version.

Made the update from 3.2.27; I think; to 4.0.17. Failed on first try. Went fine on second...Win 7 64 bit on a Gateway NV59C i3-330M processor 4 gb ddr3.
Did a firware update to my 2497. Mapset, 2015.40, was already up to date but GE didn't detect it. Said up date was available. Maybe it didn't detect the SD chip?

And updated two garmin without problem. Will see how it continues to work

The Mac version is still on 4.0.14 -- blatant discrimination, depriving Mac users of the latest bugs!

I've uninstalled and re-installed and keep getting an "encountered and unexpected error" (as opposed to an expected error) on start up. That's the last straw - going to use Garmin web updater - sick of issues with GE!

@Garmin Gal: I can't say that I blame you for giving up on Garmin Express. When it installs and works properly, it is a nice tool. But we see so many reports of failures with this product,and getting it fixed is very frustrating.

If you do decide to try to repair Garmin Express, it is best to completely unnstall it, then reinstall a fresh copy. If you are having trouble getting Garmin Express to uninstall from the Windows Control Panel, you may need to use the Microsoft Fixit utility to get it completely uninstalled.
